The KFN is an organisation run by Kirklees foster carers for the benefit of all Kirklees foster carers. You may not know this but if you are a Kirklees foster carer then you are already a member of the KFN and are entitled to all of the benefits and the support that it offers. Whats more, we can offer support and information to families that are thinking about becoming Kirklees foster carers or who are currently going through the assessment process.
All of the resource on this website is currently only available through the forums. If you are thinking about becoming a Kirklees foster carer or are already a Kirklees foster carer please take the time to become a forum member so you can join in because everyone will have something to share.
Thanks for visiting.
Please visit our support forums where you can talk to other Kirklees carers.
When you are approved as a foster carer, you are not left to cope alone. A qualified social worker will be identified as your supervising social worker (SSW) and support will include:
As well as the above, all approved Kirklees foster carers have automatic membership to the KFN and have access to all of the resource that the KFN has to offer. Collectively, the regular support providers in the KFN have decades of experience in looking after foster children and are available to provide that knowledge and experience to anyone who needs it. Access to this resource is available 24 hours a day via a dedicated telephone helpline and via the forums that are located on this site.
Kirklees Council also pays the Fostering Network (tFN) membership fee for each family that fosters. the Fostering Network (tFN) is an organisation that provides many valuable benefits for carers and are available to provide assistance, counselling and advice to all members.
Apologies if the details of the events seem vague, this is to protect the children and their carers when they are out and about on scheduled trips and activities. Details of all the events listed below can be found in the newsletters that we distribute, on the forums and in the forum calendar. Also, you can get in touch with the KFN using the details on the contact page.
Kirklees Fostering Network (the KFN) is a registered charity that is organised and run by Kirklees foster carers. Some of its many aims is to offer foster carers extra support to run alongside the support that Kirklees Council offers its carers because sometimes the best support you can get is support from another carer. It also exists to be the collective voice of all Kirklees foster carers.
The charity has a committee that meets monthly to discuss issues. This meeting is open to all Kirklees foster carers and all carers are welcome to attend. The meeting and its location are announced on the calendar in the forums.
One of the fun aspects of the KFN is that it organises day trips to attractions and party evenings where we celebrate all sorts of topics and events.
